In 2023 the Dutch Guild of Papercutters (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Papierknipkunst) celebrates its 40th anniversary. In the exhibition Papierknipkunst in Leiden contemporary works of its members is shown. Maja Houtman is represented with three papercuts inspired by paintings of the Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan (1872-1944).
