The Deutsche Edelsteinmuseum (German Gemstone Museum) presents in its vaults the exhibition mineralART 2014. A large part of the submissions of the design competition with  the same name is shown, so the visitor can get an impression of the variety of the possabilities of processing agate.
Every two years a mineral that was originally found in the region of Idar-Oberstein, is the subject of the mineralART competition. In 2014 the theme was between layers – inner worlds of agate. The particular structure and color variety of agate have fascinated people for centuries. The history of agate and its use as an art and jewelery object is as diverse as changeable. It was the aim of the competition to find contemporary forms of editing and artistic realization of this unique mineral. It could be submitted both jewelry and objects.
